Indian Bedspreads and the Fabrics of India
India is famous for it’s vibrantly coloured textiles as in this outdoor market in Jodhpur.
Our Indian bedspreads and quilts are made from luxurious silks, cottons and velvets. These Indian bedspreads and quilts are beautiful as bed covers but they also make wonderful soft throws for a sofa or day bed. Our Indian bedspreads and quilts are made in one generous size that can be used on double, king size or super king size beds.
The colours of our Cotton Kadi Quilts
Elemental colours of earth, fire and water make up the colour palates of the new Kadi collection of soft, textured patchwork quilts. Khadi (with an ‘h’) is the name of the handloom cotton that Ghandi wanted every Indian household to weave, for practical and philosophical reasons. This cotton isn’t handloom but it has much of the textural charm of Ghandi’s beloved khadi.
The Taj is a fine example of the mirrorwork and embroidery that is typical of the tribal people from Gujarat, Rajasthan and the Thar desert. Many of the Indian bedspreads we have become familiar with over the last 30 years are from the villages of Rajasthan and Gujarat. The satin embroidery and sheesha mirror work is all done by hand.
