Soft cashmere shawls from Nepal, beautiful unique handwoven silk scarves from India and Laos and “Tibetan yak wool blankets” in vibrant colours. Cashmere is the fine wool from goats found in the Himalayan mountains, these shawls in natural colours are a perennial favourite. Delightfully warm, soft and lightweight they’re ideal for an autumn night and they fold small enough to carry with you. You can read a blog about our encounters with Himalayan goats on our treks in Nepal, Ladakh and Tibet. Our “Tibetan blankets” are perfect for wrapping yourself in for meditation and are large enough to double as a bed throw.
India is one of the world’s most extensive sources of exquisite woven fabrics and Laos is another wonderful region for handwoven, vegetable dyed silk weaving. Each of the silk scarves is unique.
’Tibetan yak wool’ are neither Tibetan nor yak wool but Indian acrylic! But don’t be put off, they’re delightful, warm and vibrant and ideal for meditation, campfire evenings or an extra layer on the bed in autumn.
