Embroideries & Wallhangings

From Laos we have beautiful silk Pha Tung, or prayer flags, handwoven in villages near Luang Prabhang and dyed with vegetable dyes. These are often woven for the Buddhist New Year festivals.
Old embroidered textiles from the Indian states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. These are part of a collection we assembled in the seventies and eighties and are on sale for the first time. They include small square clothes, beaded hangings to go round doorways and a huge embroidery that would be hung in a courtyard for a wedding festival.
We will also be adding unique textiles from our old collection of nomadic pieces from Afghanistan.
The Indian Wallhangings also include pieces of the silk Kantha work that has recently become popular.
From Africa there are pieces of Kuba cloth, Mud Dyed Cloth and sequinned Wedding Shawls from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Beautiful in their own right, use them as wallhangings, bed runners or table decorations.
