The Silk Road Gallery has a selection of Pha Tung for sale.
Pha Tung are silk prayer flags handwoven in Laos for the Buddhist New Year celebrations. These Pha Tung were woven in the small town of Luang Prabang by the local women who usually have a loom in the back garden where they’ll sit and weave in the early evening. Everything is locally sourced, the dyes are made from local vegetables, flowers and tree bark.
The photographs in the print rack, of India, Tibet and Nepal, were taken by Peter Bennion, one of the owners of the Silk Road Gallery. Print prices start from £25 for an A3 print. 20% is donated to a Himalayan charity.
